Knitted Fabrics
Knitting is a technique in which a thread is continiuously looped together, creating a larger surface. Knits are made with two or more needles. Knitting and weaving are the main techniques used to manufacture textiles. Knitting is a form of needlework. Today, most fashion fabrics are made by machine knitting.
Knitted fabrics always have some stretch because the yarns are in loops. As a result, a knit is less likely to wrinkle. Most close-fitting garments, such as socks, hats, sweaters or T-shirts, are made of knitted fabrics.
When the threads run in the width direction, this is called a weft knit. If the threads run lengthwise, it is a warp knit.
