Burn Out Fabric
Burn-Out (also known as Ausbrenner or Devoré fabric) is a technique in which a part of the fabric is wiped away by chemicals, revealing a pattern. The basic material consists of multiple fiber types. The chemicals are applied in a specific pattern which will erase only the surface fiber, creating a semi-transparent pattern.
Why Burn Out?
Burnt Out fabrics are festive and exclusive. Ornate patterns are emphasized by the transparent or matte background. A common material for this technique is velvet.
